I love techniques that work -- don't you? While researching my new hot topic, stress, I found this book listed on Amazon. It got solid reviews, so I ordered a copy. If I find some helpful techniques, I'll share a few.
Stress Relief Today: Causes, Effects, and Management Techniques That Can Improve Your Life. by D. K. Jefferson
The average American’s daily life is filled with frustrations, demands, deadlines and hassles. Stress has become so common that many accept it as the norm. Stress isn’t always bad – in small doses. In fact, stress can help people perform under pressure and motivate them to do their best. On the other hand, if you’re constantly stressed and overwhelmed, it can have a dramatically negative effect on your physical and emotional well-being. In "Stress Relief Today: Causes, Effects and Management Techniques That Can Improve Your Life", D. K. Jefferson examines the various types of stress, and the universally common stressors. He gives practical advice for managing, reducing, and dealing with the things in our lives that keep us in a state of stress. Before stress can be managed, however, it must be identified. A simple exercise for identifying and labeling the things that cause you stress is provided in "Chapter 3: Managing and Treating Stress". Mr. Jefferson also shares the results of a comprehensive survey of Americans who candidly discuss their own stressors, and the steps they take to manage them. The quotes from the survey respondents are incredibly moving and inspiring. With this book, you no longer have to suffer in silence. You're sure to find a technique or combination of techniques that will help you get control of the stress in your life.
